dumb ebay question
 

Yesterday I placed an item up on ebay..... this morning I noticed an error in the title of my auction. I also happen to get a bid on it. Is there any way that I can edit the title of the auction as well as the description? Thanks

Not once there has been a bid.


You CAN add to the description though.
Select 'revise my auction' and you'll see that option,
up until 12 hours before the auction is scheduled to end.

You can look at "Revising Your Listing" to see what can be changed under different circumstances. Ra_'s got it right that your options are more limited once a bid has been placed.

You do, however, still have the option of scrapping the auction altogether - see "Ending Your Listing Early". Under some circumstances, it's the smart thing to do.

One case where I'd consider that would be if the title were actually wrong. I'd also consider it if I realized that I'd left something important out of the title that I considered really useful for helping prospective buyers to find the listing through searches, or to decide to actually look at the listing. You eat the listing fees, but hey, getting even one more prospective buyer involved in an auction might make a huge difference.

If you do want to pull the plug, then earlier is better than later.

You can always cancel the bid and the auction.

Ending it might be a good idea, if it's a high dollar item, such as your car
and the title is not accurate.

Lot's of people don't 'browse' a category, they use 'search',
so get any and all the important keywords into your title.
( the sub-title doesn't register in a search )

If you cancel it, make sure to get the email address of the bidder first,
so that you can contact him and explain the situation
and give him the URL to the relisted auction.
