i have been wondering if there is really any quality difference when using s-video vs. standard rca cables. ive had my s-video capable tv for a while but i just got a dvd vcr combo that is also s-video ready. so is it worth going out and buying the s-video cable and hooking it up that way or should i just use the rca cables? opinions are greatly appreciated

Yes, it i worth it in video quality. It seperates the black and white video transfer from the color video transfer, giving you a higher quality video, and less interferance than just transferring all of the information through one wire. It is a higher transfer speed as opposed to the standard cables. And the cost is fairly minimal. I say go for it, and you will not be dissapointed.

And new DVD players usually come with a(n) S-Video cable.

Night and day difference from RCA type (composite) to S-video.

Night and day difference from S video to component.

There are very cheap places to buy cables on the internet. Dont even think of buying them at full retail unless you have a personal reason to support a certain vendor.

And to mention one more big step, Component to HDMI was pulling the veil off of the TV. Whoa whatta difference.
