BMW question...

Guys, I may be buying a 1983 BMW 533i...I can't seem to find any BMW forums that even discuss their older cars, perhaps a bad sign?! Does anybody know anything about E28 body BMW's and what I should be looking for on this car? Thanks, Dave

Man I hate the format that forum is in, with the whole thread showing in a descending line. Perusing that forum, and others, would suggest that the Bavarian cars have a different set of issues than the M-B's but predictable issues just the same. What I don't seem to see is cars that have accumulated HUGE mileage, and the 524TD diesel seems to be an orphan with the BMW fanciers. This 533i is so cheap that I really don stand to lose much even if it's a complete POS, but the more I know going into it, the better. Dave

This is the best one I have found. This one has alot of the things I like about this forum. And no political bickering.

never mind...this was on ebay and somebody else slid in a bid $5 over mine with 30 seconds to go...there hadn't been a bid on there for 24 hours at least prior to that...that irritates me to no end. It just seems slimy and slippery to sneak in bids like that at literally the last second. With 44 seconds to go, I was good-to-go, then BAM I lost.

You should look into a snipe program. Sounds like you were sniped.

The whole thing pisses me off. I was so keyed up about getting a new toy, then it was gone, that I went out and bought the local newspaper last evening, looking for something to bring home. Of course, there wasn't doodly squat in the paper. So, explain what a snipe program does, I've never heard the word before.

I lost track of it. I don't think I'd be seeing a g-spot for awhile if I pulled the trigger anyway.

It would have been perfect for me, I could use it for hunting but I wouldn't look like a dope driving it to work.

It was a really cool rig I could have sold my Avalanche and been ahead of the game with cash in pocket to put towards my e300.
