my mom was going to get me the 3 1/4 ton craftsman jack stands for xmas but she said they looked " rickety and cheap" they are on sale for 25$ for 2.. anyone have experince with these because i migth go buy 2 sets incase i need to get my car off all 4's

My next set of jackstands are going to be dead flat on top and, hopefully, have a rubber pad attached.

I'm tired of the typical stand with a bent up top plate that will dig into the underside body panel if a suitable wood block is not utilized.

I've seen them........once...........somewhere.

I got my jackstands from Harbor Freight...I just glued some rubber pads on them to offer the same bit of protection...

$73.00 for padded jackstands........I think not.

Furthermore, there is no photo of the pad. The top of the stand is not flat and there is the risk that only the two edges will contact the body pan. This is not desirable.......similar to all other jackstands.

i think ill just get the craftsman 3 ton jack stands and look for a jack .. probably a craftsman .. then ill need a tool chest and more metric tools.. my birthday is in febuary i guess ill tell my family and gf what i want to recive... tools.. metric tools

I just saved my behind, yet again, with a $10. set of "stubby" combo wrenches from Poop Boys. Many times, you can't get the big box wrench on the fastener, or, if you can, you can't rotate it more than 1/12 of a turn. These "stubbies" are a lifesaver. I had to tighten the alternator belt on the SD and could not have done it without removal of the air cleaner.........but..........the stubby saved the day.

Just a tip for when youre buying yur tools, if you need a rachet wrench set go with one of those Powerbuilt sets rather than Craftsman, I always liked the powerbuilt wrench more than the Craftsman. The Craftsman combination wrenches are excellent though.

I'm thoroughly frustrated with the Craftsman 1/4 inch drive ratchet. What a POS. I think it has about 12 teeth. I also think it takes about 5 ft.-lb. to rotate it, thereby causing you to need a second hand to hold the socket in order to use the ratchet.

I want a nice very fine tooth 1/4" ratchet that requires minimal torque.

I bought a set of Chraftsman jack stands last year and they are great! The fit and finish isn't the best but they function just fine.

I have had both ends of the SDL up on them and they did the job.

you are aware I had not one but two 12" cinder blocks shatter under a Ferrari 308GTS I was working on .......I had backup support luckily.

Well, that's because you use the cheap cinder blocks.

Az is using the "expensive", high quality blocks.

That makes all the difference in the world.

ANd that picture has them in the weakest orientation possible too.....I used them with the holes oriented vertically as used in a home foundation capped by a chunk of 2X12 on a smooth cement floor. I had used those for years..and I mean almost 30 years till that happened......never, ever again.
