January Roll-Call!¡

Howdy All,
Be the first on your block to post on the roll-call thread this year. Make it a habit. Happy New Year everyone :-)

Happy New Year everyone!

GermanStar 01-01-2006 02:21 PM

Here!!! Wait -- where?

Hauoli Makahiki hou

That either means "Happy New Year" in Hawaiian or "get off my foot dieselhead"

Some local Hawiians insist on putting as many native words into a sentence as possible. They are much like cue balls on a pool table.

The harder you hit them, the better their English gets :smash:

Happy New Year.

I hope everyone has a safe and a happy new year.

Present in the land of Lawrence Welk where men are men and women are women (a down right handy situation):D

In the summer when work is in full swing up there the ratio of men to women is about 2 to 1. Up there the saying goes, "You don't lose your wife you just lose your turn.":D

Why, that would be just off the I-15 in Sunny So. Cal, used to only be known by the locals but now has its own highway sign "Lawrence Welk Village". A long ways from the Dakotas.

Happy New Month, as my wife catches me every month.

Happy New Year to the rest of y'all.

Sorry Mike but Lawrence Welk was born and raised in Strasburg, North Dakota. His home farmstead is a state historical site. We're not a bunch of rubes up here. North Dakota is also home to Roger Maris, Angie Dickinson, and Eric Severeid among others.:D We are the Land of Lawrence Welk.

Lets see how many posts I can get on this months roll-call. Oh boy, I already have 2.

And I always thought he sounded foreign....I guess he just talked funny from growing up in North Dakota :P .

I all honesty, I didn't know he was from ND. But there is the Lawrence Welk Village, just north of Escondido, CA...his adopted home, I guess.

Not everyone up here talks like Lawrence did. We have people from many European backrounds here. Lawrence was a descendant of Germans from Russia and they have a unique accent. I am a descendant of Germans from Germany and I don't have his accent. We also have a large population of Norwegians and Swedes with their own accents. Somehow we all comunicate with each other very well. Lawrence used to return to his native ND just to touch up his accent as he would gradually lose it in California. Wunnerful, Wunnerful chust use Chairitol.

Howdy Mike & J.R.B.,
Drove by L.W.'s resort a lot when driving for my company. It looks like a fancy mobil home park. Or are those modular homes?¿
