Anyone know a good place to get a mattress?

Yep, my sister wants me to get her a tempur pedic queen size mattress.....not really give her, but loan her the $$$$ to get until her bonus comes in.

It's friggin' 1900.00 in a store.

WTF?

Someone help me please!

Wallyworld has them for way less, WAY less. Either that or get the mattress topper instead. Much cheaper.

PM I was looking at a Tempupedic and got a better an dless expensive kind at City Mattress. Can't recall the brand Natures ...somthing...
but they're in SO FLa and it was like 12 with the big foam pillows vs 1900.

The Tpedics retain body heat, which you do not want in Miami....these do not. check em out..

I have a golf buddy and business acquaintance that is a principal partner in a company that has just entered the on-line mattress business. They have many years experience in bedding and furniture sales and are not a fly by night company. Their new venture is memory foam mattresses compressed and put in a plastic bag. Then it is put in a corrugated container and shipped out. Box is something like 18" x 18" x 50" or so. Mattress foam is made by the same company that mfg. for Temperpedic. Their prices are very attractive. Take it out of the box and let it expand to queen size. I can attest to their legitimacy and ethics. I bought one of their queen size units and it is wonderful. Note: You do need a box spring of some sort for the mattress to rest on.

Located in my home town here in NE Tennessee.

They make mattress toppers, you know like a 2" thick thing that goes over your spring mattress... my mom got me one but it was horrible... way too soft, no support...after waking up everyday with back pain and numb body parts I took it off (I dont have back trouble, 18yo). Im not sure how much it cost but it surely wasnt close to $1900.

We bought one and it does live up to our expectations. Yes it's $1900 with the box spring but it does have a 30 year warranty so I think that is reasonable to pay for something that allows you to be more rested and therefore have a more productive day. Since it conforms to your body it doesn't cut off the circulation in one's arms if you happen to sleep on your side frequently.

We got a king size at overstock.com. Shipping for the foam mattress and foundation was 2 bucks!

I've heard this mentioned before, but it's not noticeable to me. We often get 90+degree nights in the summer, and I find our TempurPedic no different than our previous conventional mattress in that regard. Perhaps sheet choice has something to do with it? We use nothing but thick, high thread count (300+) cotton sheets.

I've also slept on the Costco models - both the topper, and the full size mattress. They're nice and worth the money, but nothing like a TempurPedic.

If you search around, you can find discounts - I found a dealer on craigslist. Got our king+platform for $1200 2 years ago...about $500 off at the time.

I'd be cautious about buying the cheaper ones from Wal-Mart, etc... I seriously doubt they offer the same quality, comfort, and performance as the REAL "Tempur-Pedic" stuff...

I bought a less expensive "memory foam" pillow from Target that was VERY disappointing compared to my real Tempur-Pedic-brand pillow. The real Tempur-Pedic has more "weight" to it, and is FAR more comfortable, and has been much better for my chronic neck problems.

I'd imagine it's the same with the mattresses.

You usually get what you pay for.
