I just went on the PayPal web site to open an acct. I got as far as them wanting my Bank ID and pass. to my online checking Acct.Is this correct and if so how safe is it? I just sold an item on Ebay.Is there a better and safer way to receive my payment?

The crooks are printing US Postal Service Money Orders that look real. At least with PayPal, you are fairly likely to get the money if the payer did not use a credit card. Works for me just fine. And PayPal is failry useful for sending non-eBay money too.

Even CASH is fake sometimes.

Have fun with the money orders and checks - got an envelope full of bogus money orders postal and otherwise. I am PayPal only now - if the buyer doesn't like pay pal, that there problem.

I use PayPal 100%. Sure, it is succeptible to fraud, but like others here have said, what isn't nowadays? I too have had problems with checks and money orders and prefer PayPal to anything else out there.

FWIW, if I ever need a verified paypal account, I'm going to use a checking account just for paypal stuff. No way would I let them into my regular checking.

As it stands, I'm buying, not selling. Unverified has never been an issue.

This is right. DONT give them your checking account! That's just insane!

I've been with paypal for 4 years or so, and never had a problem with it.

You could open a seperate checking account and link that to paypal if you want.

They are going to verify you by depositing a small sum in your account like 10 cents and another amount like 3 cents and will ask you to verify the amounts they depositied this is to confirm it is a valid checking account and it validtes you are who you say you are.

I take checks money orders and paypal. 9 out of 10 times someone will pay me with paypal.

ITs quick and easy.

The decision is up to you. based on my experience, payapl works great and like I sai dI have never had one bit of an issue with it.
