GermanStar 02-05-2006 10:44 AM

Good luck -- I hope this doesn't end in traction. :D

Go Kuan!

intelligent 02-05-2006 12:35 PM

I hope you win. There is no such thing as second place. There are "the winners" and "the rest."

Botnst 02-05-2006 12:44 PM

May the snow be with you, Obe Kuan.

I hope I'm not too late. Good Luck!!!

Hi all, I finished a solid 600th. :) Thanks all. Some sections were quite icy and I managed to fall 6 times, broke a tip so finished the last 15k with a broken pole. All in all a good first time race for me. :D

Congrats on being "the rest"

iwrock 02-05-2006 07:11 PM

Its not wether you win or lose, its how you play. Congrats on your victory.

Your a winner, because you did your best. (Taken from my soccer coach when we were 3-12)

Howdy Kuan,
I guess the Beach Boys didn't make it there in time to help ;-)

Ah, don't feel too bad Kuan. Better a broken tip than a hip. :D

I did almost the same thing in high school. I was a senior and our school team entered in a big 10K ski race without my having really ever learned to ski cross-country properly. I also broke my skis during the race and I ended up coming in dead last.

The really funny part was that the juniors raced after the seniors. I was so slow in finishing the race that everyone at the finish line thought I was a junior (the rest of the senior division had all finished ages ago), so they all cheered me madly as I came close to 'finishing'. I was actually awarded the gold for the junior division and my coach, who apparently didn't know me too well, thought that we had actually won a medal. :D :D

Man tell me about it! I'd say I'm happy with my result. Out of almost 1000 skiers, of which about 200 opted for the 10k race, I finished 600 out of six hundred fifty something finishers, and then there were about 20 or so DNF's. I was so over my head on parts of the course. I walked two downhills because they were 30 meters of icy single track with a sharp turns. It was like mountain biking, only no brakes! There were parts of the course where 5-6 people crashed in a row at the same spot. I got a big old bruise on my hip from one crash. Hurts, good thing it's not broken like you said.

Congratulations.
Your tip loss reminds me of a joke--Do you know what the leper said to the prostitute--keep the tip.

I, along with a partner, won the Whitewater Canoe Slalom National Championship for partners over 40 in 1996. No one else entered the class, and while we DNF'd on one run, we made it down the course on another.

Your 600th is better than mine.
