Lawn Transplant

My neighbor has a great backyard lawn, virtually flat, much like the second cut of a golf course fairway. He's going to rip it all out and put in a swimming pool this year and already offered me all the dirt fill I would ever need. I was wondering if it was feasable to section up his lawn for transplantation to my backyard, which needs a makeover.

I think if you rent a sod cutter, it should be feasible.

You gotta slice the grass say 3-4 inches below the soil so you don't shock the grass.

Very difficult but I know of cases where it's been done.

You need a 12 to 15 inch flat blade,on account of you'll be "slicing"the grass,or rather sod,a shovel will not work.

Just remember, you will need to go at least 3-4 inches so the roots of the grass won't be shocked and die.

Just do it in 15" or so sections, and use alot of water if and when you transplant them is all.

Thanks for the suggestions. I believe we have the type of turf that can be propogated from tufts, but I guess I'll have to check with some landscaping folks to "git 'er done."
