We have already lost to the rest of the world. While our youth is consumed with iPODS, wearing pants that are 20 sizes too big that are falling off their asses, Brittany Spears, and 50-Cent hip hop culture that promote drugs, sex, guns, and cars with big stereos that go "BOOM" and 30 inches wheels that have spinners, the rest of the world is kicking our asses in studies. Forget the Arabs, worry about OUR next generation. We can never compete with the youth of China, Japan, Taiwan, India, Pakistan, etc. China is on the verge of passing us by as a superpower as well.
Hey people get your heads out of the sand. The western world has done a very good job of pissing off those Arabs. What do you think will happen? I seriously think that one day the Arab world will have enough of our pompous ways and will just cut all ties with us and just deal with China instead. We need those Arabs MUCH MORE than they need us. China will be happy to take our place. Why are we overseas right now? In a nutshell, it is to keep China away and to keep USA in. Remember that Iraq had already signed oil contracts with Russia and China prior to our invasion. Do you think those contracts will be honored now? WAKE UP!! Do you think our next generation will be able to keep America from falling? We don't need to worry about someone attacking us. We are our own downfall IMO.

Lost to what? We are winning the war on terror, hip-hop, rap, teenage pregnancy, corporate fat cats. What more you want?

A lot of the problems are in the skools. Trim off all the fat and leave the meat and bones. We are not going to be manufacturing giants any more. Live with it. Nobody every will make it without the 3 Rs. Make that 80% of the load instead of just a class.

I think manufacturing will come back, it almost has to. We won't however be the dominant goods producer. I say that because it makes sense to move production close to the consumer. Its already being proven in the southern US. We used to have a lock on while collar jobs, but not anymore. They too are going overseas, and something has to fill the gap. With rising transportation expenses due to fuel costs, we will probably see multi-national companies setting up factories here, still the biggest consumer market in the world.
