I've been around for a few years and I think this is the most dull I've ever seen this forum. Winter blahs or whatever. Where's Boneheaddoctor? I don't believe in chaos but, damn, let's stir it up about sumthin'!!! Other than Bush sucks threads, that is. That's worn out. Where's the fun we used to know?

I have to agree, however, I don't think it has anything to do with BHD. To be frank, at least now we only have one or two of his types to deal with and at least they post more than a couple words with a bunch of periods at the end. Most of the time they don't make much sense either, and they seldom come into a thread that isn't political and make it political, so, that I can deal with.

I think the reason for the "dullness" is that I know I have started a few threads or posts and decided not to post them... getting banned when for saying something while another member isn't banned for threatening you definitely has a way of censoring what you say. It really sucks, I know, but that's how it goes. I think others on the forum see that type of action and don't post things that they otherwise may. In end you end up with a board full of people that don't post what they want to post and what you have is idle chatter... we're not at the idle chatter part yet - and I think we're a far way off from it - but still.

So is it different? Yes. Maybe for the better, maybe not.

I disagree.

I think it's fine... We can actually have civil discussions on sensitive topics now, with very little drama, and no morons like BHD and KV to jump in and start hurling insults and threats, which led to things getting shut down.

There's been some intelligent conversation going on, and it's refreshing.

If you thirst for drama and juvenile behavior, you can always visit that "other" forum...

Best as I can tell, the "dullness" that has prevailed seems to be attributed to the majority of non-political material being exhausted over time.

Think of OD as the water cooler, and members as co-workers...how often can you banter about favorite shoes, watches, and fishing gear? Especially if you've been around for seven or so years?

Like the water cooler talk, the only really fresh material available to jabber about are current events...and most of them will have a political tone.

Expecting civility in those discussions doesn't have to make OD boring...

Not too sure about that. I posted a story about how a United States solider was made to pay for his body armor out of his pocket because it was damaged by a bomb!!!!!

It was a very good story that showed how today's politicans could care less about human life and only about money money money.

A very good story indeed and on another forum I frequest made for some very good discussion since the story was quickly silenced by our War loving Israel loving media.

The thread, I *think* (I can't find it) was deleted here because, I assume, it went over the 3 thread rule. A good rule, but none-the-less... you get the point.
