No, I had to spell Hatteras (the boats) wrong to get my original AOL email account. Hattares is the correct spelling for my email.

The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Thats what I got, what did I screw up?

Thanks for the help though.

Lebenz 02-16-2006 06:06 PM

is it microsoft.com or msn.com?

89-300ce 02-16-2006 06:06 PM

We use "Mail" for incoming and "SMTP" for outgoing. Maybe try that.

I'm outa here.

Change the way you post your emails or you will be spammed to death Hatterasguy @ gmail.com

Usually it's pop.blahblah.com and smtp.blahblah.com

But that would be on your side. Someone who gets a bounce such as
"550 5.1.1 User unknown" means that on their side (the outside world) you don't exist as you specified.

check the port #'s as well

Did Microsoft / MSN give you any special port numbers to use to send / receive? I use Att mail and had to change them for outlook to access ATT to download mail.
