How many E420's produced in 1995 worldwide?

Hello,

Long time no see...does anybody have any solid data as to how many W124 E420's were produced in 1995 worldwide? Do you believe it is under 1500 vehicles?

Hello Lebenz,

I have been in Asia hard at work these past few years so I can trade in my 10 year old car for one of those fancy new hot rods!!! Sadly, God is not on my side...when I finally do return, I find the strength of the Canadian dollar, auto insurance, as well as fuel prices have skyrocketed!!! Ah shux...life sucks...

My 1995 E420 now has 64,200 kilometers...she has no problems...I have been going to an independent shop in Vancouver for maintenance as opposed to before when I would take the car to the dealership. The experience has been much better. The shop has switched me to 20W50 non-synthetic Havoline, and the car feels and performs fine...I dunno what is all the fuss about synthetic oils...as long as you do your maintenance regularly, these older cars that were built for use with non-synthetic oils will run beautifully even without the pricier stuff...the shop says the car has no mechanical problems whatsoever and everything is working on the dot!!! I am very happy in this regard, especially since the car is already over 10 years old! I have taken her on a long distance trip through the Rockie Pass from Vancouver to Calgary and the car performed flawlessly...so to sum it up, no upgrades and nothing different with the car other than the higher mileage...so my vehicle story for the past few years have been uneventful and boring...which I guess is great!!!

Thanks for the update. Sounds like quite an adventure.

A mechanic I know suggested switching away from synth for the 400 as he claims the synth can be too slippery and drain past some of the check valves. He echoed your comments and said that the M119 engines were designed in the pre synth days. Wish there was a good indy around here...

Hi Andy! It has been a while since you’ve posted.

It is interesting and perhaps a coincidence that shortly after the most prolific poster and antagonist on the site stopped posting that we are seeing a lot of members from time past starting to contribute to OD again and even better, topics are shifting away from endless demopublican centered bickering. I even saw one of the site's founders posting in OD for the first time in a few years. I like the trend!

I would love to know how many E420's were made also. I have a 1995 and actually my title indicates it is an E420/SPECIAL printed right on the Georgia title. I haven't gotten around to working on it yet, I have a 560SEL, 280SE 4.5. and a 500SE in from of it. So I am doing research while I finish the ones I have in front of it

I am interested in what makes it have the /SPECIAL designation right on the title itself?
