Let's buy Danish products

A major weapon being used against the Danes is the threat of an economic boycott by certain islamic states. We should all show our support for freedom of speech and disdain for tyranny by buying Danish products. Let's start a list of Danish goods here so that we will know what to buy.

im not too sure if iagree with the 'lets buy Danish' thing, reasons being you
should respect other peoples religion/beliefs. by all means take the p*** out of your own religious figurehead, but i dont see how buying Danishc goods supports "Free Speech"

anyways, for the record, you could invest in a Bang & Olufsen hifi (very cool design and sound), or drink Carlsberg or Tuborg lager. Or maybe just eat some herrings

Pity the Danes didn't qualify for the coming World Cup Football in Germany.
Iran has, and that would have been some match. Maybe the Swedes could show'm in the second round. Anyway, if they make it to the final in Berlin, we'll take care of them

I think 4 people are dead because of the riots started by those cartoons. Do these people have a life? I mean come on arn't they supposed to be praying or working or something?

If I saw a cartoon making fun of GW or Jesus I wouldn't go burn and embacy and kill a couple of people.

I believe those people where shot dead by the police, trying to stop them fire bombing the Danish Embassy........if it had been the American Embassy...would that have been alright to shoot them ?

I detect a little critical sarcasm here.

This didn't happen.....Egyptian embassy fire bombed by Christian/Jewish mobs...because of this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4690224.stm

See the dissimilarity of protestation between the two ?

What about this..http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/02/07/news/web.0207toon.iran.php

Most of you guys are really narrow minded and don't see things from different angles. Hatterasguy.. we're both in the same age and I like you a lot when it comes to car talk, but your asslicking of a certain group of guys is just too funny at times. Things are never as simple/cut and dry as they seem.

Say someone for some reason made a picture/cartoon/video that depicts Jesus in some pornographic nlude scene. Then this picture/cartoon/video is posted in areas of the world that are heavily catholic/christian.... such as South America. Do you seriously believe people in that region would simply just ignore it? Heck no... I would see the same sort of behavior from them as I would from religious muslims are displaying. If you haven't noticed by now, areas of the world that are ranked as one of the poorest also have a ranking for one of the most religious. For one, in the muslim religion you're not allowed to have an image of any kind depicting the prophet Muhammed. Not only has some Danish cartoonist drew an image of their prophet(which is a sin according to muslims), but he drew it in an insulting way... having a turban/head dress that looks like a bomb. Then with all the problems already occuring in the middle east with high tensions/war/problems/corruption.... things ignite. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that something like this would occur.

Then you have another lunatic out in Iran that is now trying to "reply" to these cartoons by making charactetures(sp?) of the Holocaust in newspapers. Now if these images where published in European newspapers... there is no doubt in my mind that the publishers would be in a world of deep *****. Israel would probably call for a ban of items from the country of origin of the publishings.. and demand an appology. Agree? Would all still have the same oppinion to "support" the country that intentionally wants to piss so many people off? Or are you guys just stuck in your backwards hillbilly "kill them A-rabs and f*ck islam" mentality?

Calling it as it is...

You mean like Maplethorpe's "Piss Christ?" Who died in those protests?

Seriously, though, I think the mood is wonder that cartoons might cause violent protest and death. The cartoons were in poor taste and certainly were insensitive, but the reaction to them has been over-the-top.

I can't verify this(doesn't mean that this is false) but these same cartoons have been published before a few months back. If it is infact true, why would they publish this TWICE? Were they really trying to piss muslims off?

I agree with your last line... however the ignorant Danish gov't does not see these cartoons as "insensitive" and defended it as "freedom of the press". I personally don't care for Denmark... and don't care if they lose or earn mony on this mess. However, they're certainly asking for ***** if they continue to keep their stance on this matter.

regarding deaths: From what I heard on the news, the majority of the deaths occured from police/army shooting at the protestors. However, I also heard today of a 16 year old kid killing a priest in Italy and the news said that it might have been related to this event.

By the way, someone has made a cartoon in which they are depicting Anne Frank in bed with Hitler. What if these sort of cartoons were published in the Israeli region by a muslim newspaper? I wonder what the response would be then?
