Today my 1998 E320 hit....

...the 100,000 mile mark.

To celebrate this milestone I treated "him" to new spark plugs, new air filter, new cabin air filter, new tranny fluid and filters and new oil and oil filter and new coolant. Nothing but the best for my trusty friend and road companion.:D

I once drove a 300SD for over 300k miles and a 420SEL for over 250k. My 1989 300TE has almost 200k miles on the clock. The longevity of these cars, if treated right, is just amazing.

If you hang on to a Benz for as long as most of us do, then the cars are fairly inexpensive to own over the long haul.

Thank you Mr. Benz thank you Mr. Daimler! :)

100K?!?!? That's nothing! Your Benz is still a baby. :) Keep up that regular maintenance and I'm sure you'll hit 500K with minimal work needed. I have a 300K M103 block I'm using for my turbo project and all of my original components such as cam, rockers, head, block, rods and crank are in basically perfect condition. My engine builder freaked when I told him how many miles were on these components. In fact, the engine ran great before I pulled it apart. Mercedes makes a great product!

Yes they do. We brought the 600 in for some maintainence, and outside was a 600SEL. It has just over 225,000 miles on the clock. I thought holy crap, this SL we have is going to be in the family for a while.

Yep. I usually get "tired" of my Benzes long before they are ol enough to be "retired."

A few months ago,my 1998 S500 hit 100,000 miles. We were on the almost at our destination and when we stopped it actually read 99,999 so me and my son had to see it hit a 100,000 so we dropped my wife off and hit the highway!I treated the S500 to new tires, cleaning and an all-round servicing.

I bet you do. :D

Hey, did I tell you that I got a speeding ticket that morning on the way to the shop?

I got ticketed for going 78 mph, right at the 210 freeway and Via Verde / San Dimas.

Well today was the court date, and the CHP officer didn't show up, so it was dismissed! :)

Yes I remember you mentioning the ticket. I thought it was chickens**t.

I am glad you did OK :D CHP usually ALWAYS show up in court.

How is the Phaeton???

Hey Ernesto, congratulations on crossing the 100k barrier! Maybe one day I'll dig deep into the wallet and buy a Benz that's still on the "under" side of that line... The Phaeton's doing great, loving it more by the day, esp. in the snow. I picked up a Tire Rack package of Dunlop WinterSport M3 snow tires on Borbet rims, and it cruises through blizzards at speed without even moderate loss of traction, and much better balanced than a tall SUV. In mid-November it had 5200 miles on it (I drive the SD and ride the motorcycle in summer), and 3 months later is has 16,600. Very happy..

Paul, congrats to you on beating that ticket - you were understandably irritated by it that morning. It's really nice to win one for a change.

I haven't been by Enrique's since that morning, since the SD's hibernating in a heated garage for the winter. I'll have to stop by and say hi the next time I'm in LA, hopefully he's back in robust health.

I believe you are supposed to push your car a mile after the clock turn 100K...err I think that's how the song went:wacko:

Enrique is on the mend. He is doing much better. We are EXTREMELY fortunate to have him. My former mechanic is 5 minutes away from work. It would be so easy to take my car to him for the "easy" stuff. But I rather drive 60 miles RT just to take my cars to Enrique.

Dig deep into your pocket???? This from a man who own a Phaeton? I know what you mean. I recently bought my oldest daughter a "new" 2002 C320 Sports Wagon...well under the 100K mark. It is CPO and it runs and feel like new. So while Dad drives the older Benzes, the kids get the new ones.

BTW, I noticed that in my own manic way I answered your post and Paul's post in one post. Of course I know you own the Phaeton and Paul has the nice E320 with the gorgeous wood steering wheel that I am still coveting.

It was good seeing you guys at Enrique's. We should do it again!
