Studor Vents...

Why do plumbers hate these things. They go off on a tangent about how mechanical things "fail" -- I don't suppose many of the plumbers have taken a look inside of a water closet then? WooWeee... lots of mechanical things in there!

Anyway, anyone have any experience with them?

I put one on an unvented sink in a kitchen in an apt. It would have been quite hard to retrofit a vent since the house is over 100 yrs old. It worked to improve the drainage and it hasn't failed in 10 yrs. I certainly wouldn't design one into new construction but as a problem solver in existing plumbing, seems fine to me.
