This show is great, although I've only seen a few episodes. It's so fast-paced and entertaining, yet it shows a wide variety of cars and gives reasonably good information in the process. I hope Disc Channel shows more of it ... I think it has a lot to offer a fairly wide audience. There's something about British television humor that our American shows can't quite match sometimes ... can't put my finger on it.

Building denial 'no setback' to Top Gear
Monday, February 20 2006, 14:12 UTC -- by Fiona Edwards A denial of planning permission to build a new racetrack for Top Gear has not set the show back, the BBC has said. Hopes were high that the show would be moving from its Dunsfold, Surrey location to a new racetrack which was to be built in Enstone Airfield in Oxfordshire. However, the permissions to build the track have been disallowed due to worries over pollution. The BBC has no concerns over the development, however, with a Top Gear spokesman saying: "Ideally that is where we want to go but if not we will just find another location." "There is no great urgency for us to move but it would also help give the show a face lift," the show's spokesman said. "There is absolutely no threat to the show, which will return in May as planned." Top Gear took the non-scripted entertainment prize at the International Emmys last November. |
