I learned a neato fire building trick today.

Instead of doing the traditional litte pieces and keep getting bigger I learned a cool trick today.

Put your medium size logs on the bottom and put your kindling on top of the logs. The kindling ignites and drops hot coals on to the logs and a hot ass fire starts combusting like the Towering Inferno.

I have a gas pipe in the bottom of the fireplace and will start just about anything in 5 minutes. I know it's not exactly up to code, but I love it.:D

This may not be suitable for a fireplace, but it sure works well outdoors...
Lay your wood like a log cabin with 4 sides. Fill the center with kindling, and light. The log cabin is really a chimney and it creates quite a draft. It may not burn long, but it sure burns hot.

Outside you can always use a tire, but I save those for Earth Day.

Or dump peanut oil on the fire!:D Did this once when we were camping, we had to get rid of the oil from the fryer and it seemed like a cool/good idea.

The trees 20ft up almost caught on fire! :D

Thats nothing... Go to a few candle stores, and ask what they have for "damaged items" (IE broken candles)... buy them at a little more then their prices, and save them in a box untill you collect 20 pounds of them

Make a fire, and unload them into it... Youll get some flamage to say the least

Another neat trick for starting a fire is to wad up some news paper, and put some kindeling over it... Then do a lein to over it with your medium stuff

Between the kindeling and the medium stuff, place an AIRLESS bag of gasoline ontop of it (1/2 a quart's plenty, usually)

Roll up some more newspaper (think "really big doobie"), and light the paper at the bottom of it...
Paper catches fire, bag plastic melts, and then the gas burns... It will NOT explode, unless it puts the fire out (at which point, either run away for a long time, or immedialy light it with your "really big doobie" made from newspaper

Now, who knows how to mount a tire with gas?
