sportline option code for 97 C280
A friend is looking for a W202 C280 sport. What option code identifies a sport version? Can you tell from the VIN? Does the sport package come with MB tex upholstery?

The sport package in 97 was a deal.
Came with leather upholstry, fake carbon fiber trim, firmer shocks, thicker stabilizer bars, tighter turning radius, amg monoblock wheels, monochromatic body trim. All for about $800.

Yup
When we were looking for our first new car, we first looked at a C220, then the C280, and finally the C280 Sport. I still do not understand why so many people did not spring for the extra 500. What a deal. Better seats, nicer door panels, better suspension, better brakes, better wheels, premium sound, and elimination of many of the shiny body accents. And of course, all the real looking fake CF. Probably one of the last bargains.
