MIL going to Hong Kong

MIL is going to Signapore and Hong Kong this week -

Question - are lap tops cheaper there?
Question - does anyone know of a website that I can visit to get reference pricing for the lap tops?

Thanks,

Ig

I don't know anything about the price, but I would imagine you will not enjoy the same warranty. It will be a pain in the b-hind if something breaks and you have to ship it over there.

I do not know the prices of laptops in Guatemala, but laptops from major brands such as Toshiba, Sony, Compaq, etc. aren't cheaper or more affordable compared to US/Canadian prices...they actually command a premium in Hong Kong...your only reason to buy a laptop in Hong Kong would be that you are looking for some unique model that is only available in Asia or Japan...usually, the electronic merchants can get a hold of them...if you want a lesser known Asian brand usually made in China, they are much cheaper...but I do not know if that is what you are looking for...also, as mentioned before, don't expect any warranty service unless you plan on going back to Hong Kong every time the laptop breaks down...

Won't the power supply be different? Forget electronics, buy jade and have a few suits made. The stuff that takes a lot of labor costs least.

The transformer for laptops can accomodate different voltages...all he really needs to do is buy an outlet adapter when he gets home at the local dollar store for around $1~2US and I think he is good...
