How is the conceptus capable of life till at least the third trimester and that is with quite a bit of intervention?

Well, if you say the corpse is not alive because it doesn't have X, Y and Z, then if the fetus doesn't have X, Y and Z then it is not alive. If it does, it is alive. If you can keep a corpse breathing and having a heartbeat but still the brain is dead and you will not call that alive then what would happen if you applied that same judgement to the conceptus?

Things that are arbitrary may or may not be irrelevant. For example, the moment of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was arbitrary.

Birth is relevant, the moment of the first capacity for viability is arbitrary.

Well, it is important because if it is a live person then it changes the equation slightly from the standpoint that there is one more thing for the host to consider. Otherwise an abortion is just like a miscarriage except you did it to yourself (so to speak). I mean, the wife had a miscarriage and you don't see us crying about the loss of a child. It was never alive other than on a cellular level so we don't see the issue.
