What's this whole anti-abortion talk for?
 

Are they really going to take away abortion? South Dakota decided to take matters into their own hands I guess. Although I am a big conservative, I believe that people should have a choice. What the hell are you supposed to do if you get raped by some nasty guy? Do you keep the baby?

I wasn't around for that whole Roe vs Wade crap so I am naive when it comes to this.

The reasoning is pretty straightforward. If it is always wrong to take an innocent life and the fetus is a person with equal moral standing with the mother, then how the fetus came into existence is irrelevant, it can't be killed. So no exceptions for rape.

Realized a few weeks ago that my own existence is probably dependent on a rape. One of my ancestors was born to Cap'n Henry Morgan's black slave. Not likely to be a consensual relationship.
I wonder how many of us wouldn't exist were it not for rapes? A very ugly thought.

But shouldn't the woman that got raped have a choice whether she should have it or not? How can you speak for the woman if you are not in her shoes. Maybe that baby will remind her of that terrible day for the rest of her life, you don't know that. If we have a choice then people who feel that they should keep the baby will do so and people that want to abort it can do it as well. It's up to them. I'm all for PRO CHOICE.

If you allow abortion because of rapist, the rapist win.

Legislation is moving in the direction of simply giving the decision for making the laws regarding the legality of abortion back to the states instead of the Feds. That's what would happen if Roe v Wade were overturned. Abortions would not become illegal except in the states that decide they should be.

But what if your wife gets raped by some bum? Do you want to raise that kid?

You're asking that the murderer be given the legal right to kill the innocent victim. Would you be willing to let the law give free reign to all murderers? Let the murderer decide who she wants to kill, it's up to them, keep the law out of it?? How can you speak for the murderer if you're not in her shoes?
Besides, if you allow abortions for rape, you undermine a key component of male power, sexual terror.

Social conservatives believe that people should not be free to do as they choose. Instead, they believe that everyone must adhere to a particular behavioral creed that they personally deem appropriate. Social liberals believe that people should be free to do as they wish, provided that behavior doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights. So you now admit that you're a liberal?

What if the rapist is a conservative?

Damn, it seems that everybody is anti-abortion in here. This topic was brought up in my history class today and I thought that there would be some punches exchanged between students.

What kind of conservative, BHD conservative or French fried potato's and mayonnaise conservative.
