Now that the Abortion thing is beat into the ground again..let's hear thought on....
Gays in the Military...
I read a few weeks ago that a gay serviceman dies in the line of duty over in the desert. When his body arrives home, his hometown decides to have a memorial service and schedule a drive through town to honor him. On the day of the service here come some midwest religious zealots to PROTEST against him being gay, gay in the military, and get this, HE deserved to die for being gay... Imagine, a man of the cloth and his weakminded constituants are supposed to be spreading the word of what???...love, peace, tolerance ? ..and here they are in Tampa with signs and megaphones trying to destroy the surviving families' loving memory of their 20 something year old kid ??? Thank goodness a local biker chapter got wind of this and gathered up their members and they used their RIGHT to rev up their engines and drown out their words of hatered toward someone that was out in the desert PROTECTING those religious nuts right to even be there with signs ?? I figured I throw this little nugget out there and see if can get some thoughts on the issue..... |

You're kidding me..........
“…little nugget…” Actually that’s kind of a big nugget.
Sad and sick, are the two words that come to mind first. I can’t, or should I say “don’t want to” believe that actually happened. But then, I guess I’m not surprised. I know the bikers had the right idea, but who wants to listen to that noise too? I wish the bikers had gotten there earlier and “broken up” the mob of ass bags before it all got started. If you want to back the gays, that’s your business. If you want to hate them, that’s your business as well. I’m sure there’s a lot more to it than that. And, I’m sure I’m going to get bashed by it here shortly. Fine. I’m not looking at this story from any other point of view other than for ANYONE to go and deliberately destroy a families (no - a towns) moment of grief, memorial and honor of this young mans life/death is nothing but sad and sickening.

They aren't protesting gays in the military per se; they're saying that God hates America because America tolerates homosexuality, and that deaths in Iraq are due to God's feelings on the matter. It's sad they even get attention - these nuts are so far out of mainstream opinion of any kind they couldn't find their way back with GPS.

I know the bikers had the right idea, but who wants to listen to that noise too? I wish the bikers had gotten there earlier and “broken up” the mob of ass bags before it all got started. The sad part is the cops are there to protect these idiots right to picket and cause a scene. Had the bikers beat them to a pulp, the bikers would end up in jail. See even the scourge of society has legal rights. I had to blow some rust off my thinktank but I did find the link on this loving preacher.. http://www.godhatesfags.com/main/ I'm not sure of all the poison this joker spews but I just pulled this off his site... http://www.godhatesfags.com/fliers/feb2006/20060225_typical-fag-soldiers.pdf PC Dave They aren't protesting gays in the military per se; Seems to me the message is pretty straightforward... |

Ya...I know......
I know. I know. All this right to do this and that…. The cops would protect….
I was thinking maybe the bikers could have scared them off. But knowing they had their rights, I guess not. It just pissed me off to hear about it. I know we all have our differences, but going to that level of disrespect to voice them is just sick.

"Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment." Job 19:29. Hoo ha!" Sorry to quote these pricks, just making the point that if you want to discuss the issue of gays in the military in the thread, bringing in the WBC is taking you off course.

Good point...
You’re right. They just hate them (gays) being alive, anywhere.
This was just one more public spot to voice their -----. Had they done so in front of a gay bar, it probably wouldn’t have gotten the same attention. I probably wouldn’t be so pissed at them either. Though I’d still have a strong dislike for them. Some sick individuals there. I guess the only place I really have a right to discuss (and feel comfortable with discussing) gays being is as my clients, in my aircraft. I have a few gay/lesbian clients. Most you can’t tell are gay. They all seem to pay with the same currency as the straight folks do. Can’t say that I’d look forward to flying a couple of guys wanting to joint the mile high club though, mind you. I do have the right to say that would give me the willies, right?

So then.......
How would you explain this:
http://www.nyblade.com/thelatest/thelatest.cfm?blog_id=4974 I just seem to think the message has an undertone of hate everyone that doesn't see things our way.. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nazi's, the KKK, Phelps or the St Patty's day parade, you can demonstrate, picket and protest all you want, you just don't get police protection.

I'd almost buy a Harley to be part of that.
This is one example of why I go on so with what some call "blame America first-ism." Each and every one of us are our own worst enemy, and these guys (the ultra-homo-phobes) are a perfect example of the fallacy of seeking to assign blame elsewhere.

Think, Peragro. The tendency to believe that 'me and my family, my church, my clan, my school' is better than you and yours runs deep. Is the cause of much pointless suffering. The answer lies within grasshopper. We are our own worst enemy, almost always.
