TOTAL BS, "modified vehical enforcement" video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCyMkB0uMeg&search=Police%20Street%20Racing%20Training%20Video
OR go to www.youtube.com and search for Police Street Racing Training Video Ok I'm going to run down the list of BS that I call from the video, and I hope someone can answer some of them for me... STICKERS... WTF??? Theyre stickers, they say stuff. Is it illegal for me to load up my tailgate with bumper stickers? How about an american flag in the back glass? Lowered suspention? OK, so you make a car lower, and (lets assume) that makes it handle better... Better handeling car is safer, RIGHT??? WTF Lights... ok, yeah theyre not DOT rated, but you can see them just fine TACH/LIGHT... WTF?!?!?!?!?, its a tach, it lets you know what your engine does... Whys that illegal? COMPUTERS??? Dont cop cars come loaded with computers? Bet them fuggers race, every day INTAKE BREATHER??? Theyre stock, he just moved it... Its probally better to run it through a replaceabal filter then the engine. Running it through the engine makes it carbon up, and get worse milage. Isnt the point of CARB to make cars get more milage, IE more effient? Blue hose? Racist Adjustabal timing? WHATS VETEK (or whatever the hell is is) Headers??? Thoose make the milage better. MORE EFFICENT!!! Adjustabal fuel pressure regulator? WTF??? its a regulater, to prevent it from getting overfueled WASTING GAS!!! whys the intake manifold illegal? nitrus... Makes it faster... SO??? Are vipers illegal for being too fast? How about the gt's... ok, theyre calling it a power adder. WHAT ABOUT TURBO'D/SUPERCHARGED FROM THE FACTORY ENGINES??? whys the intake illegal? Tacky blue, yes... illegal? why? IGNITION SYSTEM NOT LEGAL??? WHY??? BETTER SPARK, LESS WASTED FUEL... OMFG This really pisses me off... I think that anybody remotly intereasted in vehicals should be OUTRAGED!!! I'm posting this link everywhere I can... Im making copies of this, and am URGING YOU to do the same. I dont care if your against street racing or not, but pretty soon, adding 5w30 to a engine made for 10w30 is going to be illegal to theese burocrat deckjockies... ~Nate

The stickers can be illegal if they restrict the driver's view. Another point that the video was making was that many street racers like to put a lot of stickers on their cars, so it's a hint to the officer that they may find other illegal stuff (probable cause).
Lowering suspension below a certain amount is illegal in some areas. Lights are generally required to be DOT-approved. This doesn't necesarilly improve safety, but it is the law. Big tach with shift light-not illegal, but again this is a hint to the officer that there may be illegal modifications. Intake breather, ignition system, fuel pressure regulator, adjustable cam timing, etc: All of these items can affect emissions. It is illegal to tamper with emissions equipment. Some states are more strict about this than others. California is STRICT. So much so that they have their own emission standards that are more stringent than those of other states. Any non-stock part that can affect emissions has to have an Executive Order from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) stating that it is acceptable to use in California. If the part isn't stock and doesn't have a CARB EO number, it's not legal to use in California. Yes, it's BS but that's the law in California. Actually, California cops cracking down on hot-rodders is nothing new and goes back to the 40's at least. BTW, the Land of Fruits and Nuts is one of only two states that I absolutely positively refuse to live in. Massachusetts (Taxachusetts) is the other.

Vtec is how its spelled...
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm is a good laymans description of how it works....there are other incarnations of this under diferent names by different manufacturers...Vtec is just what Honda calls theirs. Trust me that it works...well. How else could you get a motor like mine to pull 200hp at 9,200 rpm with 1.6 liters and no turbo and still idle and drive well at low rpms...

I'm all for it as far as making this stuff illegal. They should do that with BIG BOOM BOOM stereo systems as well. That will leave more money in the pockets of the youth and less time to tinker with their car making more time available for the really important stuff that really matters........studies and education!

My honda for example is a real sleeper...150mph speedo and 9,500 rpm tack IN the cluster, not on top the dash...serious power and handles like a dream. And it passes Emissions. and thats no small thing in VA, since we have a dynomemeter load based emissions test. I do believe in keeping the car running well, but Kali goes overboard on their regulations. Its what comes out the tailpipe that matters not some damn CARB sticker on a part.

I lived in LA for about 10 years. I moved out in 1997 and I can tell you that for most who live there, emissions are a very big thing. Due to the surrounding mountains, the inversion layer, the number of cars and the traffic problems, they take emissions very seriously. I for one and very much in favor of it. Right now I live in Dallas and if you live out side of the metroplex area, you do not have to have your car inspected for emissions. Gee, guess where everyone goes when they have emission problems? It’s crap. I see these cars going down the freeway all the time spewing noxious fumes. Yes there is a lot of red tape in the emissions system in CA but as far as I remember, it is working. Do to their efforts, the emissions for the rest of the country are a little bit better. They are the only state (their might be one more) that can have stricter emission guidelines than the national ones. They are the ones forcing the car manufactures to actually implement the technology that is available.
Nate, Lowering a car does not necessarily make it safer. If your bumper is lower than the car/truck that hits you it will not do any good to absorb the impact. If your lights are brighter they may help you see farther but they will blind the on coming traffic and possibly cause an accident.

IMHO, your time would be better spent actually learning about vehicle modification and emissions tampering laws than ranting about them. Picking up a few pointers on grammar and spelling wouldn't hurt, either.

I have heard about some people who lower their vehicles by cutting the springs themselves (and they are not qualified mechanics by any stretch) not only would this not make the car handle better, it could also make is a hazard on the roads. I have a feeling that most "modification" the police encounter are not of the Benz-enhancing, professionally engineered and installed types like Kleeman and Carlson, etc, but are DIY jobs that are neither effective or smart.

Slightly off-topic, but a bunch of lsd slingers got off in North Carolina in the early nineties because the po-po was pulling over all cars with Dead stickers on them.

I dont know why people hate audiobahn, but they do... I think they overrate their specs and charge too much, but w/e, still sounds ok to me davidmash, lets assume they got a real spring/shock kit. Who are they endangering, other then themselfs, with a lowered bumper (which instock form sucks anyways) intelligent, BIG BOOM BOOM stereo??? Yeah, theyre annoying, but so are protesters... Does it hurt you? BHD, howd you put it in the dash? I wouldnt think theres room back there, but ive never had one apart... You sneeky devil... do you have an A/F mixture gauge too? ~Nate

You should be laughing at the people with the loud radios.
they wont be able to hear anything given a few years. [rant] Whats even more funny is the world of car audio itself. Speakers are all low sensitivity and high (most are vastly overrated) RMS watt specs. It's even greater that wattage has nothing to do with perceived loudness, you have to put in 5x the watts (RMS) for a measly 3db of gain, when A proper speaker in a well designed cab will do far more with far less watts (RMS.) /rant
