Do you give regulary to any non-religious charities?

i regularly give to Doctors Without Borders but would like to know if there is a way to check on their "efficiency" with regards to donations.

Is there a reliable way to do this? I am always suspicious of pie charts that show such low 'administrative' expenses (%wise).

I guess just out of curiousity, if you do have a favorite charity, why or how did you pick them?

I guess I'll start. Being somewhat a refugee myself and seeing all those former "Yugoslavian" refugees settle in Germany, I can somewhat relate to their issues.

American Cancer Society and the local Humane Society, through payroll deduction with partial matching by company.

More people need to be aware of the dangers of stray pups that start smoking. ;)

I would recommend a smaller, local non-profit.

Trust me, they will appreciate it.
