W140 Wagon??

I stumbled across these pics the other day:

http://mercedes.pp.ru/tgal/s140-003.jpg

Was this car ever actually produced? I certainly see w210 styling in the rear end of these shots.

Doing check on licence plate suggests vehicle registered in "Giessen".

Giessen is a city in the German federal state (Bundesland) of Hessen, capital of both the Giessen district and the Giessen region. Located in SE central part of Germany.
Orange safety sticker is issued for years...1995...2001..and ...2007 . Colour is repeated every 6th year.

Without the 'blue strip' at the left of the plate, makes it issued before 1994 ? If so the 6th year before 1995 to take
it back when plate without blue was used, is 1989.
So this car is a 1989 model.??

Any other ideas about plate ?

FYI.......
Colour............ Years
Orange.... 1995 2001 2007
Blue ...... 1996 2002 2008
Yellow... 1997 2003 2009
Brown... 1998 2004 2010
Pink .... 1999 2005 2011
Green... 2000 2006 2012

Most likely not factory produced, but aftermarket. There are several shops in Germany that have put out convertable sedans in the w140 line so I don't see why they couldn't have done a wagon conversion.

Maybe it's just my eyes, but somehow I feel the pictures look more computer graphics than real-life shots.

So I went google, and couldn't find any W140 wagon... but a W220 wagon conversion came up...

The city square picture does look 'wrong' now you come to mention it.
The blue small lights just above the roof line do not reflect in the roof as they would at that low angle and the drivers mirror shadow is not correct for the street lamp height.

Agree... and in that city square picture, the little patch of shadow in front of the LF tire should probably not exist too, given the set of street lights in front of the wagon. The shadow underneath the car suggests a light source directly above it... one may argue it's the moon, but given all those street lights around maybe the shadow shouldn't be as pronounced & clear cut.

Changing subject... the W220 wagon conversion definitely looks real... more shots

I thought it looked pretty fake as well. Just wanted to share it here.

That 220 is def. the real deal...a real ugly deal if you asked me but it was obviously custom built.

I like the w220 wagon more so than the sedan, its more practical and less pretencious looking. A real practical luxury sedan, not just for flash.

Much better looking than the new R class fish eyed monstrosity!

Exhaust tips are on the wrong side.

Why are the rear seats so much lower than the front seats?

That's an awful hatch opening for loading bulky or heavy items.
