When I went to the dealership, after maintenance, I would always ask them to fill out the maintenance booklet...but they would always be too lazy and tell me that it is in their computer systems and it was not necessary...when I insist, they gave me an annoyed look and tell me to fill it out myself and they will stamp it...since going to an independent mechanic, he fills it out without any complaints and treats it as just part of the routine...but that is great that the US Mercedes-Benz website allows you to fill out your maintenance records online...it is a great feature...

I just keep a little notebook for each of my vehicles. When I do maintenance or have it done (F---ing apartment management won't let me work on cars here, so I'm pretty limited in what I can do.), I write down the date, mileage, and description of what was done.

I keep records for tax purposes, notepad in the glovebox. I include maintenance records. I have quit logging brake work, etc, that I would not like to answer to in a deposition.

I keep a manila folder with all the receipts from the mechanic.
