A New Low in Ebay Parts

I've seen absolute garbage posted that I would not haul out of a junkyard for free at exhoribitant prices on eBay, but I think I've found the winner here!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-muffler-exhaust-350SL-350SLC-350-SL-SLC-R107_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33636QQitemZ8058119269QQrdZ1

A USED (used) muffler for $200 buy it now + $50 shipping. What a deal!!!

I should have kept my old muffler, which was basically a can of iron oxide dust, and titled it as a "Special High-Performance, Low-Restriction" muffler. Could have paid for a new one!

Hmmm, I've got some used brake pads, wonder what I could get for them??
I'm tempted to do a search to see if someone actually posted pads but I'm afraid that someone has!

So did mine - I had no idea that the entire interior had turned to dust until It hit the garage floor after removing it. Other than shaking a muffler, I don't know of any way to test one. I actually had a muffler fixed once at a one-man welding shop, but this was only because the tailpipe rusted at the joint at the muffler, I knew that it was otherwise fundamentally good.

I suppose if I were really broke and desparate and/or wanting to get rid of a car, I would install a used one myself, but not for $250.00, when I can get a good brand spankin' new aftermarket one for under $175 shipped to my door.

New Amazing Deals on eBay:

Used Cap and wires for 107 - ~$100

Used, Broken mirror (RH, electric), ~$100

Scratched-up trim for soft top lid (at least the guy was honest and took good pictures)- ~$150

Now, I am frugal, and I'm willing to work hard to restore parts to as good as new condition as possible, or even take a few bad parts together to make one good part, if I can get the parts at a great price. Recently, I've successfully disassembled, cleaned, needle-painted (!), and reassembled the temperature gauge in a 560, and I've never heard of this done before. But the above parts - NO amount of work will make them decent (or in some cases, even functional)! Maybe 1/10 of the dealer price MIGHT be reasonable.

At this point, I'm thinking of taking three months off, entirely disassmbling my car and selling it piece by piece on eBay. I figure I could easily retire early on what the parts might bring, and buy a few low-mileage 560sl's to boot for the garage at my new home in Florida.

Not to defend this kind of thing, but

In the words of a Supreme Court justice, considering what constitutes "Soliciting prostitution".....

I just have to point out this great deal on a used part on eBay: A "drier-evaporator" (I don't know of any such part, there is a receiver/drier, and then there is an evaporator, and there is no picture) for a swinging deal of $24.99+19.99 shipping.

If this is actually the receiver-drier, I think that this part ranks somewhere beneath used brake pads in terms of it's value as a used part!!!

Admittedly, MAYBE the switch(es) on it might be of some use if indeed they are included, but again, definitely not something that I'd care to buy used.
