Saw a MacLaren today

http://www.mbusa.com/microsite/slr/index.jsp

I went to the local dealer to buy some odds and ends and they had one in the showroom. OMG. That is one heart-stopping machine. I was talking to a guy who was negotiating for a new S-Class as I waited for the parts babe to come get me and he wonder aloud to the salesman whether they'd have it (the MacLaren) cleaned-up for sale as he'd like to buy it and they both laughed. There was no sticker on it as it was already sold(!). Parts babe said it was about $500K.

Look, I don't see cars like that around here, okay? I live in a town where a tricked Mustang makes people all wet.

Top Gear this past weekend did a cool show where they drove one from London to Finland - 1,400 miles or so - great car. There is one that I see buzzing around my neighborhood. They look even better on the road than in the showroom.

How long would it take for the insurance payment on that car to buy a new CDI?

Have to agree though, it really is something else.

I know that it is a beautiful car.

However, nice cars are the norm around my home. I have ridden in an SLR, and I must say that they are the MOST impressive vehicle I have ridden in. It blew my mind the level of luxury that they were albe to put into a supercar.

Actually, I have a client with one. It costs him just about $2400 a year to insure it. And he can only drive it 3000 miles a year. It looks beautiful parked next to his SL600.

I believe on Top Gear that it can burn all of its fuel in 22 minutes. That sounds so painful and yet amazing at the same time!

It has some lines of similarity, but then, I like the Crossfire. I think I could buy maybe one Crossfire/year for 20 years instead. No oil changes, no tire changes.

I saw one of those in Scottsdale, AZ. the other day. I rubbed out the door ding I left with a little spit on my finger. They'll prolly never notice it.

I'm only teasing. I did see one in Scottsdale, though.
