The Second Ammendment was written by people who understood human nature. Human nature has not really changed much since then. Technology has, but people have the same tendencies and inclinations as they ever did.

Personally, I cannot imagine ever getting into a situation where I would be able to shoot another human being, though. I'm glad some people own and carry guns. In VA we have the option to own and use firearms without restrictions. In Fairfax County the law allows concealed carry. My thinking is that if somebody who is inclined to commit a crime using a gun, knowing that anyone in the room may be packing heat is a better deterent than any laws are.

That reminds me, I have to renew my NRA membership.
