Humor: Personalized plates (MB)

I'll start this:

W108 sedan with Calif. plates "AMENZ"

In Marin County CA. Wry and subtle, Janis would have laughed

THEY WON (frightening, on a Corolla years ago)

MGM PAID (W126 diesel, the old blue CA plates, in San Francisco)

ACAD AWD (Last gen. Rolls, West Hollywood)

TV DOC (WIth license plate frames with $$$$$$ signs all around them Reported by co star of the TV show of the guy who owned it on Jay Leno)

Probably the best source of them is Los Angeles....

I still remember the funniest (and perhaps scariest) vanity plate I ever saw. It was 1990 in Myrtle Beach, SC. A middle aged woman driving a big, black Lincoln Town Car with the plate "WAS HIS". She must have had a vicious attorney.

Florida impersonal but accidentally becomes very personal plate

Seen on W210 Eclass (seen on link from Lesbian LEO site) in Florida

Standard Florida plate has Letter, 2 numbers, BIG FLA. Orange in the middle of the plate, 3 letters.

"A55 -Florida orange - RGY"

Don't know how it made it past the Fla. DMV censors. But it did. Picture was priceless

not a plate, but a license plate frame

We have a customer car with a license plate frame that says "CAN'T SLEEP, CLOWNS WILL EAT ME" on it, not sure what it means, not so sure I want to know.

OK, I guess I am a bit slow tonight. Can some one explain in small words what this means?

Wow!

I'm not sure I would have gotten that one. Some of these vanity plates do provide something to do at stop lights. They're sort of like crossword puzzles.

No? Ever heard of cherished number plates in Britain. People pay absurd sums for them.

www.newreg.com.uk
www.right-reg.co.uk

$15,000 pounds sometimes for CLA 55

It is out of control. Clarkson himself admits it. "I was once forced to spend a week of a Polonez FSO (Polish Built Fiat 128) which sported a registration plate that said "FSO 5" You see cherished plate FSO 5 is probably worth well into four figures, and I could see the drivers of neighboring cars howling with Pythonesque glee at me, the buffoon they thought had spent so much on a number plate, he couldn't afford anything better than a Polonez.

Worse are the idiots who spend a fortune on numbers like 316BMW for their BMW 316s. We all know it's a 316 because the badge on the boot says so, andanyway, had the buffoon not bought the number plate, he could probably have afforded a 325i

There's the tale of a chap who lost a retina in World War II and now drives round in a car which bears the registration number, 1 EYE."

HAHA that's awesome. Maybe it's pulled from something else but I know that line as a scene in a Simpsons episode where Homer builds Bart a "clown bed" and it's a freakishly scary clown that freaks him out into thinking he'll be eaten and so he's cowering in the corner saying "can't sleep, clown will eat me".

If it's a Simpsons reference that's pretty obscure and strange but then that might imply too much about me.

It's not a plate but I was able to take a picture of this gem on the 10 freeway leaving Santa Monica this weekend after the movie awards event I volunteered at.

I think it's a Pennsylvania plate.
