Is it OK to switch your dentist or, say, doctor
if you don't feel satisfied with him or her? Would it be impolite? I know I'm the one who's paying, but how can one do it without seeming rude? Ya know? I don't think my dentist is rude or mean, but I feel like I'm taking up his time when I ask questions after a procedure is finished (and maybe it's just me). Basically, I just feel it is difficult to speak with him about my concerns. I can't say if the work he has done on me is good or not because I've not gone to other dentists before. I kinda feel I'm spending way too much money on my dental care and feel not much has been done. And I feel my dentist is telling me I *might* need to do this or that...things that may be unnecessary or there might be more affordable options. I don't know. Advice?

Run, don't walk. If he is a professional, he won't take offense. If he gives you any **** about transferring your records, call a lawyer.

Should be no problem at all. Just go, I switched doctors three times.

Absolutely - Go.
Absolutely - If you’re not completely satisfied (and comfortable) with the person providing the services that directly affect your health and/or well being, fine another. A professional care giver should by no means take offence to your moving on.
As for transferring your records. You should have no issues there. Being dental and not medical, should make things easier as well. If your new (next) dentist wants your current records, he/she can request them. Many dental facilities prefer to give you a complete exam and x-rays when you start with them anyway, regardless of existing records. Most insurers provide 100% coverage for this. Bottom line - like Kuan said - “Just go.” BTW - Wasn’t it the health care industry that brought forth the term: “Get a second opinion” ??

Every Dr can't be a perfect match for every patient....find one you mesh well with. The other guy won't even care...
