Just checked out at the Whole Foods store near here; for groceries...
Now the 2 older people in front of me bought 3 12 paks of bottled water & 3 flowers ( the long stem tulip looking things...)
And their total was $98.98...

I had to ask the cashier to confirm their total for me and he said it was 98. & that bottled water was 36 bottles.

I buy bottled water for $5. for like 24 bottles at Target.

These people are wacked!!

depends on what water it was.. i work at a grocery store and we have water raning from 5$ for a 24 pack up to 20$ for a 6 pack...

Must have been the flowers. $98 bucks for how much water? I don't care what kinda water they bought, they got ripped.

I think they bought orchids...they are in season now...they are expensive

Even most Whole Foods water for the 1.5 liter is $1.50 or less -- their own brand is about $.69 for a 1.5L. Best deal I've found is at Trader Joe's. About $.49 for the 1.5.

I usually refill the bottles at one of those coke machine looking water purifiers: $.30 a gallon; one gallon will fill 2 and 1/2 of the 1.5 L bottles. I could just fill 5 gallon jugs, which I do, bit I like having the smaller bottles in my work rig -- can't stand the chlorine taste in city water.

I live in a desert and I get my water for free (included in my $515 a month rent) out of the tap. It tastes ok and comes with free calcium chloride, arsenic, iron, lead, and other trace elements that you would have to pay extra for in other places.

Nevada is the #1 mining state in the nation, so our water includes traces of pretty much anything you would want to mine. I've probably passed enough gold and silver through my kidneys to pay for the front end work my 300D needs.

I bought bottled water at Costco yesterday for $4.99 per case of 35 bottles. The bottles are 500ml (16.9 fl. oz.).

You never know who's more whacked the people spending their own money or the people that don't know them that gives a crap.

At any convienence store a quart or liter of water is about a buck, or $4 a gallon.Thats more than fuel, this is crazy,Who the hell buys this stuff then complains about gas prices?

I agree. My sister lives in south Florida, where the tap water tastes awful. She drinks bottled water, and I think that's just fine. Where I work, the well water won't kill you (according to lab analysis), but it tastes like burning. The company buys us lots of 5-gallon jugs of bottled stuff. I appreciate that.

OTOH, the tap water in many places is perfectly good to drink. I wonder about the people who drink bottled water in those places.

I don't know about the 8 glasses thing. Eight 8-oz glasses comes to a half-gallon of water. I've read in medical and survival sources that a person in a moderate climate who isn't doing heavy exercise needs about a quart of water a day to maintain health. Heavy exercise or hot climates increase this requirement. When I was in the Philippinnes, living without air conditioning and wearing my camoflage utilities sleeves down, adding body armor and a helmet when I left camp, and carrying an M-16, an M-9, and about 200 rounds of ammo everywhere I went, I was up to about 5 quarts of water daily, most of which became sweat. I worked with a guy who drank two gallons of water every day, and swore that it contributed to his good health and high level of physical fitness. He may have been overdoing the H2O, but it was a hot climate (Okinawa), and he did exercise a lot.

well, mostly i drink it from the tap. maybe carcenogenic for all i know.

and we usually have some bottled around that the wife picks up god knows where for about .25 ea. we use them for trips and such.

i am not very convinced that it is much if any safer than the tap water.

We have town water here.

However being the cheapskate I am I had my own well{listed in the 1907 survey}drilled on the location of the original one.

Decent,high iron,use it mostly for the ponds and gardens,pumped with a dandy Rider-Ericsson 5"caloric pumper that I converted to propane.

Not to metion that Nevada was ground zero for 900+ nuclear detonations, you probably have a fair helping of radionuclides as well.
