Is this real or WHAT!!!!

Okay I love W124 and I would love to own an E-320 Convertible, but this is over the top. Check out this ebay auction for a 1995 E-320 and still reserve not met.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4648136155&fromMakeTrack=true

Please some feedback!!!

The reason is its a 9k mile car. The old mercedes(w124, w126,w123, etc) are known to have high dollar value when they have ultra low miles. Being that this car is also a sporty cabriolet... its worth more than say a e320 with the same amount of miles.

I remember when I was buying my S320,I looked at this gorgeous white over beige 1995 E320 special edition. It had 34,000 miles and the asking price was $20,000.I dunno if that is a little outrageous, but it was at a Mercedes dealership and was in the condition that a 34,000 mile car should be.
Given that the one on ebay is a coupe and has about 4 times less mileage than this one,it must be worth a good amount of money.Sometimes these cars can sell more than bluebook value,I know for a fact that I if I were to sell my S500 I would sell it for more than blue book, just because it has a certain value to me and I think it is in excellent condition. But then again,I also sold my Honda for less than blue book value because it was a less apealing car.So sometimes people can recieve more for there car than its truely worth.Sometimes I see great W140 S600's go for money in the low 20's.I mean these are some wonderful cars, plus the V12!

i was looking at a near mint w123 that was at a mercedes dealership.. i did everything.. i was underneath the car looking for rust, peeling under coating, in the engine bay checking fluids smelling the tranny fluid to see if its burnt, just doing everything a w123 nut would do.. they gave me funny looks.. i said.. well i m not going to offer the 10k you guys want for it.. ill give you 2k since i found a rock chip on the hood.. the salesman just dropped his jaw.. it was funny

The case for paying a LOT to get used Benz cabrio

The things to check are the issues that arise if the mileage is TOO low, are the fluid changes frequent enough, is all rubber still supple, car always been garaged, the parts well lubed, the AC cold, the soft top/rear window in good shape, everything works as it should, on any good car?

He claims the provenance is good - proper paper trail on maintenance- there is about a month of a Starmark warranty, from Beverly Hills Mercedes Benz,
the color is not offensive (white)

and given that the model is pretty scarce, and well known to be a very good bet since it is a W124, and probably it is virtually impossible to find with under 10,000 miles on the clock, if you are looking for a car like this, if it really is everything it is claimed to be, it is worth it to step up to the plate and go for it.

It would be like starting out with basically a brand new car, AND a brand new Mercedes cabrio with most of the modern amenities like ABS, SRS while STILL getting one of the last ones but to an engineering standard "Die best oder nicht" (The best or nothing - G. Daimler)

Fifteen years from now, (whoever buys it for $30k today) that person will
not be thinking that he paid too much, but, presuming the car has had proper care in the interim, be marveling what a beautiful and wonderful, classy, and likely safe and troublefree his car still is, and with years and miles still left in it to enjoy.

I would say the two bidders at $30,000 realize they will have to pay high at the beginning if they want the best example possible of a car truly worth having.

What the CARFAX story tells...

Per CARFAX, this one originally sold to someone in West Palm Beach Florida, where someone in that ultra rich area kept it till 2003, with 5,000 miles on it (driving it about 750 miles a year)

Then it got traded in, most likely to a Mercedes dealer, and next shows up at the Southeast (Florida, auto auction)

Here is where it gets interesting. The Mercedes dealers get first crack in cherry picking the really good ones that come in.

Apparently Beverly Hills Mercedes Benz - a white glolve Mercedes dealer if ever there was one (I have been there), thought well enough of this example, to send someone all the way from California to Florida to bid and buy this car with an eye to reselling it,

which, looking at CARFAX, they did, and quickly "flipped" it, as a Certified pre-owned Starmarked car, which suggests they had the utmost confidence in the car, to this present News York buyer, who claimed he indeed did buy it at B.H. Mercedes, and who now seeks to sell it.

It looks to me like the CARFAX checks out and shows the car as HUGELY desireable to seekers of a W124, rather than being over the top, it comes pretty close to being the "holy grail" as far as getting a good W124 cabrio.

I would add the pictures taken by the seller "literally" point out the slight cosmetic flaws on the body and the crack on the seat plastic.

Were I in the market, all the ebay horror wtories notwithstanding, I have seen enough here that I would bid with confidence, to WIN this one.

Just kind of makes me mad that the 124 is worth more than my pristine 129.

Just to put you at ease...when I traded my 95 SL500 for the CLK we now own, three offers were made on it before the dealership was able to prep it for sale on their lot!!! Never made it to the lot, btw.

Nice cab...still, the OEM M104 ills would eventually warrant service...the aluminum A/C evap, wiring harness, head gasket, radiator neck, OVP, etc. etc. Despite it's condition, that is still several thousand $$$ of service over the asking price...worth it? I would think a nice CE with higher miles that could be had for less probably had those issues taken care of, and you could get it to almost mint for less $$$.
