Read, whats this term?

Ok whats this "Merkin". I notice a few members using it. Seems like a derogatory term, slang for American. Ie like Jap for Japanese?

I don't think people are using it in this context:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkin

At least not from how I have been seeing it used.

Interesting definition...why someone would want a wig after shaving is beyond me though.

"Merkin" short for American. Sometimes, it is spelled Uhmerikun (a la Earl Pitts)

Edit: I read more of the definition on the link provided, and it does state that merkin or murrikan/murrakin is slang for American.

Notice the ones that are using it, and that should speak volumes.

It's actually . . .

The word "Merkin" is actually a contraction meaning "An American Pickle." It is derived from the combination of "American" and "Gerkin." Thus, you have "Merkin."

Glad to have been able to help!
