What are you going to replace it with?

Hopefully a W140 S600 or W140 S500 Grand Edition.I am leaning more towards the S600.

Thanks Bot,My 14-yr old actually wrote the whole description and placed the ad for the car.Also took the pictures...My favorite line of that ad is,"This is not the Rolls-Royce of all cars,its better.Its the S500 of all cars"
One thing I really have to say,is that I hate to see that car go.I have poured my heart out making sure it always is properly maintained.I will only sell the car if I get my asking price.The other S500's on ebay dont seem to be well maintained.There is one that has 80,000 miles,but it has a salvage title.Also,there was another one with lower mileage that seemed pretty worn out.The new owner of this car will be very proud and happy.Theres nothing like a nice big body benz!

Nice car and I hope you get a lot of money for it. When taking pictures of a dark car, or anything else for that matter, never have a light background, it confuses the camera. Just my humble suggestion.

Indeed,very good tip.Its just that I had just washed the car and when I put it in my garage,you cannot get good angles because on one side of the car there will be a pole and on the other a wall.I think the pictures still look good,but next time I will use your tip.Either way,no pictures will do this car justice.Thanks for all your compliments

Also,I am not to familiar with posting cars on ebay or posting anything on ebay actually.I am just curious,its been about a day (I chose a 10 day ad,but Ebay did not post it until there was about 9 days and about 7 hours) and I have 6 watchers and no bids.Are these good numbers or should I be worrying?Around what time do people start to bid?

It's obvious the car has been honestly described as acherished and well kept example. It'a beautiful. The one thing about it, I think, that might frighten off potential bidders is that your ebay experience is low, lots of would be buyers of cars or other big ticket items, is that common wisdom is to shy away with auto or big ticket item sellers, with less than 10 good feedbacks and of course zero negs. under their belt. Just a thought.

It's a fabulous looking car, with the best all around choice for its engine, and will make someone very happy. Good luck selling it. Probably you'll miss it after its gone.

I think I found a buyer (maybe).He called me and he knew how rare these cars were and complimented me on the condition.He wanted me to send him the bills and tried to bargain the price.I said no,its a solid price and I will not lower it.I would like my car to go to him because he seems like a person who knows the difference between the W140 and W220 (W140's better

).I wonder if hes a member of the Shopforum?

Serious bidders don't move until the last couple minutes or even seconds before an auction ends. Anyone putting a bid in now is just testing the waters.

When I bid on my SDL my first bid was in the last 10 minutes.

Thats how I used to do it when I was looking for a fintail.I remember I could have gotten this wonderful,fully-loaded and ready to go 1965 220S that was Sea-foam green over a grey leather interior for $2,000.My 14-yr old was bidding on it for me and his impatient brother and cousins wanted to go somewhere and couldnt wait 10 minutes,so the auction ended after 2 bids were placed after mine.That was bad.Do people really bid like that though for cars that are more expensive.If the bid is $1,000 right now,will someone big $10,000 in one shot?By the way,the reserve is set a $19,500 (a little high,but definetly worth it).I may lower it if it doesnt not sell this time.

Yes, especialy with auction snipper, you would be amazed at the action in the last minute alone.

I suspect the market has slowed a bit as well. Its been a buyers market wit W140's for awhile. With gas at $3 a gallon I am sure the market is hurting more.

Heck I know a guy who has a mint, S420. 1996 just over 100k miles. This thing is flawless owned by a MBCA member until three years ago, he has had it since then. Spent $3k when he got it to remove every single dent and chip in the body.

He has been trying to sell it for a year, $16k first, now he is down to $12k and still no bites. I think if someone offered him anything close to $12k now he would take it.

I'll guess that your car will end between $12k-$15k depending on who is buying this week.

Hopefully it doesnt come to that!There is a 1999 S500 Grand Edition on Ebay that I have been monitoring and the person must have relisted it atleast 10 times.It has 46,000 miles and seems mint.Hes asking $29,000,but he may have to lower it to atleast 25 or 26 grand.I would hate to see such a rare and wonderful car go for that low.Then to look at a 2001 S600 with 81,000 miles go for that same price.The fact that a W220 S600 has to go at such a low price can bring tears to your eyes.I think people would get the full effect of the car if they came to see it.Like I said before,pictures do this car no justice.I am probably not going to budge for anything below $18,500 and thats a maybe.This car is a very rare gem and I have many bills to prove how mechanically sound this car is.Honestly,this is a perfect car.They are being more and more neglected as the value gets lower,but this one has been pampered regardless.
