Just saying Hi.

Im the new owner of a 1984 Mercedes Benz 190d 2.2. Wanted to join to learn all I can about these cars. I am a diesel mechanic and bought this car to fix. It has a very solid body and interior but the engine is seized. Any input or tips would be greatly appreciated. Anyway, nice site.

Heres some pics

That's a nice lookin car. White with Navy blue interior always looks nice. Welcome to the forum.

Do you know what happened to the engine? Most of the time, people run Mercedes diesels out of oil because the oil cooler hoses leak or they never check the oil. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome. The motor was overheated to seizure and sat for 4 years. Got her for $600.00 on ebay.

Are you going to replace the 2.2 or, drop a 3.0 Turbo in there?

I am planning to rebuild the 2.2. I dont know what other engines would fit in this car so I am going to bring this one back to spec.
