Awesome W124 Video.

Wow, they tested a W124 for durability.

Here is the link to the vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bIV_hHPAFQ&mode=related&search=

There are 4 parts to the test, all on the right side. I would reccomend watching this, you will be suprised at the outcome.

(This may be a repost, so if it is I appologise.

Pretty amazing...and they started with an example that was in far better shape than mine...and with MORE miles!

Would have liked to get those euro headlights off of it before they started bashing it!

Well I suppose you need to watch it with sound, because I'm scratching my head and wondering what the point of all that was.

Very cool. Do a search on that site for w124 and you can see the other tests.

The point is that a 17 year old car that sold for around $1,700 can take all the abuse handed out to new cars on that test track. I think it shows that the W124 (and we all know the W123) are some of the best cars ever engineered and built.

I have dealings with Benzheads in England, Netherlands and Germany and everyone that I have spoken with regarding the W124 agree that it is the best Mercedes ever. I spoke with a Mercedes mechanic in West End that told me that Mercedes quality went down after the W124, and that that is the one to own because it blends modern safety features with rock solid engineering and quality. The video test is a little subjective but it proves a point.

Try doing that with a 17 year old Cadillac or Nissan (if you can still find one on the road) and I think they would not fare nearly so well.

I think the mafioso of that era already performed the "dynamite" test on all of those Caddys...

Fully agree. The W124 is probably the best blend of old school quality and modern engineering. Anything earlier or later may compromise too much in either direction.

What was really amazing is that even when it was run over by the monster truck, he could still open and close the door.
