Is this a medical disability?

If you rupture an achilles tendon and can't drive to work where you perform accounting and admin functions can you claim a medical disability?
regards,
Mark

not unless you type or write with your foot, getting to work doesn't prevent you from doing your job. If you had carpel tunnel or broke your wrist then that would be another story. Sorry about your foot hope it gets better soon.

If one is a deadbeat loser that wants to live of welfare, one could make the claim, but in reality, this type of injury will not get one on SSI.

Thanks, it is not me, but another in my office. Not a complete deadbeat but has some leanings thereto, and claiming temporary disability. I'm assuming my employer's insurance company will have much to say, just want to see what the learned on this forum think.
regards,
Mark

Not an easy task, the paper work and doctors visits and verifications that go into this are astounding and for good reason.

My wife had the very SAME injury years ago while away on a business trip. The injury occurred on a Saturday (she flew in early prior to a Monday-thru-Friday business engagement). She wound up returning home on Sunday on crutches. The employer denied workmen's comp due to the day the injury occurred.

For the next six weeks, she limped to work on crutches, the first three with a full leg cast, then a shorter one. Nine months of rehab were to follow thereafter as the repair turned into scar tissue, but instead, she got pregnant thus exacerbating the problem.

To this day, she walks with a slight limp...

I used 'one' instead of 'you' so you wouldn't think I was directing at you. Sorry--upon rereading it does sound alittle harsh, but I am sort of in this business and it pisses me off. It's not going to be workers comp, obviously, but this guy wants some time off apparently. Let me give you an example about disability policies--I have one as a self-employed attorney and sometimes entrepreneur. If I become blind and can't read text or loose both of my arms and can't type, I still cannot collect on the policy. Not being able to drive to work as an accountant should not be a compensable claim. Driving is not a right, it is a privilege. There are many other ways to get to work, and his injury won't interfere with his work. Get el Pres to take some pictures of him mowing his lawn this weekend, and it will be a done deal
