New Michelin ?

Got an email today with several pics, claiming that this is the next generation Michelin.

its a new style of airless tyre.. you should see that car cornering looks like its about to pop off the wheel... the final production will probably have sidewalls.but the wheel if you notice is specially designed for that tyre

yeah, that's gonna need sidewalls. I imagine getting dirt or mud in there would cause some major balance issues.

Is that supposed to be Michelin's 'Next Big Thing'?
It's bad enough we can't find tires anymore for our vintage rides, 'cause the Fast & Furious crowd has driven the market into pushing racing rubber onto even the most mundane econoboxes. Now we'll all need to get special rims. Like Micheln's ill-fated TRX tire?

Happy Motoring, Mark

They can be yours for only $300 per corner!

Wonder how they ride? Run flat tires ride like crap, GM insists on using them on the Vette for example. First thing I'd dump.

My mom's '06 Miata has run flats (no spare tire) and it rides fine. In fact it rides much much nicer than my 300D with new michelins.

Bet they are hard to balance. Also the flutes look like they will accumulate mud, snow, etc. which will throw the blance off; unless removed by centripetal force.

Mark

I can remember when $300 would buy TWO SETS of Michelins for my '71 Audi!

Good grief guys, don't you realize this is a cut-away to show the internals of the tire.
