Phillips screwdrivers - Why to they dissappear first?

Seems everytime I look for a phillips screwdriver, I can't find one!

Do they congregate somewhere? Because if they do, I would like to know that place! - All I can find right now is either a really small one (like for watches) or a stubby...and of course the stubby can only reach the one of two screws.

Anybody else have this trouble or is it just my curse?

The same place all the left foot socks go after you empty the dryer.

I've been using the 4 way combo for years. It's good for a carpenter on the job because you can have 4 screwdrivers in your tool bags with you.

You've probably seen them. You pull out the main shaft and turn it around to change from phillips to flat and pull out the smaller shaft on each end to change from #1 to #2 phillips or flat. I get the brightest color I can find cause I hate wanting it and not finding it.

I use one of those 4 ways at work - it is always in my toolbag when not in use. It is clear and grey in color.

I have a great big rolling tool box, but it doesn't like to roll over lawn, so I grab what I need and walk to the patient (indoors or out). The return trip, however, seems to have a glitch in the system somewhere.

My tool box senses what type of screwdrivers I need for any given project, and then hides them. If I need straight drivers, all that are in my box are phillips. If the project requires a phillips, all that are in there are straight. The only exception is, if I need a#3 Phillips, I might just find a #1.

For me they are not gone I just have to look for the site of my last three unfinished projects and then go down to the workbench and look in the boxes of the stuff that I cleaned up the previous sites with. Of course by the time I find them the alloted job time has tripled. Except for the right angle grinder that I'm pretty sure either the plummer of the cable guy stole. I'm sure that will turn up the day I buy a new one.

Which begs hte question, why two tpes of screws(initially)?

Now we have the 5 star and the this and the that, but why the 2 different ones(phillips and flat)?

Who thought of that and why?

The Phillips was designed for automated tooling machines. You don't have to line it up and it slots right in.

I seem to have a similar problem.

Not only do my phillips screwdrivers always go MIA (And I KNOW I left a good one in the junkyard recently dammit!), I also seem to lose my 11mm wrenches even though I almost never use them, and 7/16 sockets - both for the 1/4" and 3/8" drives. I haven't lost the 7/16 for the 1/2" drive YET. YET.

Also, has anyone seen my wire brushes for the Dremel? I swear I had like 10 last time I looked, now I can only find 3...
