95 Grand am question

A good friend has a 95 with the 2.3l Quad four. When it warms up the torque converter seems to lock up stalling the engine.
Any ideas what might cause this???

Might be the tourque converter solonoid... I think that's the name for it.

The thing that controls when the torque conver locks up, is malfunctioning...

If it's an around town beater, just D/C it, and remember NOT to go more then 45mph... Perfectly fine for in town, but you'll probally get a CEL.

So, we can test this by disconnecting the lock up solenoid? I'm assuming this would be a connector on the transmission.
