Uh-oh, another car
A colleague's son-in-law has a 95 E320 with 38k miles that he wants to sell.
It was his granny's car and she moved into assisted living so he bought the car from her about 6 months ago. Fuel prices have gone up and he has a long commute and is looking for greater fuel efficiency. I haven't seen it. I haven't driven it, etc. But the owner is an engineer (BSEE, I used to work with him 10-15 yrs ago when he was a coop student) and is pretty particular about most everything. The downside is that it is black/black exterior/interior. In the Deep South, that's an issue. If the car pans-out, I'm thinking about offering $7-$8k, max. What do you think? |

Sounds interesting. Black/Black is a problem here too, folks get burned when they lean up against a black car here - they only do it once. If you have a garage or covered parking you might alleviate some of the problem. Use it as a bargaining point to lower the price...

Buy it and donate it to the Azimuth chapter of the human fund; a not for profit entity focused on the edification of the lives of men named 'Azimuth'.

Why not donate the car instead to a reputable charity. The Peragro International Liberation Fund (emergency reserve) provides a vehicle to ensure the freedom of movement and liberated thinking of that which is named "peragro". This particular fund is extremely useful when said subject is required to leave in a hurry due to circumstances that may just be a little weird. You can just write the check out to PILFer.

Is it a W124 or W210 model?
Shouldn't you be looking for an SLK ??

Wait for a diesel. You'll find a better color scheme as well.
I know you're just dying to join the bio-diesel ranks.

BMW in particular got many complaints about their air conditioners from the USA until finally 4 BMW engineers were made to drive a new Black BMW sedan with a black interior across Texas from one end to the in high summer and after that, the airconditioning problem in BMWs was resolved to the satisfaction of the US customers. ~~~~~ A '95 W124 sedan with just 38k on it for 8k would be a darn good deal, if the car checked out. Good ones are near bulletproof. A pair of polar white custom fitted Ramshead sheepskin seat covers would make 1/2 the heat problem go away, as long as the ac blows cold, the rest of the issue is well addressed. Black/black is considered a desirable color combo for most modern Mercedes.

Clean, low mileage, late-production W124 cars - in black-on-black - make eskimo cry.
Better Bot than I, to be faced with such a dilemma. |

It would really make you cry to see how pristine he keeps his other 300 E. Oh well, I'll have clean cars again in ........about 18 years probably

Not to be a hater, but isn't 38K kind of low for that year of car?? May want to take Azimuth up on the free carfax offer just to make sure someone else didn't let it sit with a broken odo or something.
