E400 Oxygen sensor

I've been told that I need a new OS for my car- is this easily replaceable or do I need to take it to a mechanic who will charge me an arm and leg? The car often reaks of gasoline- could the OS be the reason??

does it always reek of gasoline? If so, check the hose that goes from the filter to the steel line (the filter is next to the fuel pump-passenger side rear, about where the rear seat is)
Those leaks are usually such a fine mist (plus there is a plastic cover) that most fuel evaporates, or gets collects on the cover.
