Did you watch " The path to 9/11"?

Did you watch it, and what did you think?

I can only watch part 1 this time around; I'll have to see part 2 in rerun,
Was it as bad as you feared?
I do not like the 1/2 second cuts--I find it distracting.
I also found it difficult to follow such a large group a bad guys.
But, overall, I thought it was OK for what it was---a made for TV movie.

As someone who has never been a Clinton fan, I do not feel that it portrayed him too badly. I came away with the idea that big, bloated government is too big to work efficiently--too many levels of bureaucrats.

What do the rest of you thimk?

I saw parts of it. Really, it is still too soon for me. I am already angry and don't need a dramatization of that which has made me angry for 5 years.

The parts I saw didn't do too badly for Clinton, if you are already aware that bureaucracies resist new ideas. The folks in the trenches are usually wondering what planet Washington is on. If Bush is portrayed fairly it will be much the same.

I'm still pissed at the guys who flew the planes into the towers coulda shoulda woulda does not seem rational to me. I do have a suspicion that the gov knew that is was coming but not specific to dates or flights.

I think you miss the point that there was a LOT of intelligence. Sorting it out prior to the event is very difficult--"connecting the dots" after the event is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Even I can be a successful monday morning quarterback. I can even see the problems in the Iraq war--after the fact.

Yes I watched it. My favorite part was when they got Ramzi Yousef, then carted away the informant and his family to the states. I look forward to the second part tonight.

Someone was doing some dot connecting ahead of time on Sept. 5th when they deployed an 82nd Airborne Combat Engineer battalion to Ft. Belvore VA.

and guess what training they did when they got there.....just guess.

I am not placing the blame on anyone; the fact of the matter is we had a fatal combination of a huge government bureaucracy and bunch of people in intelligence positions that did not have the credentials to be there.

IMHO, it's a waste of time to watch an historical drama that does not have any indicia of historical accuracy. How will the viewer know which parts are accurate and which are made up?

Med,
Just a question, Is it unusual for Combat Engineers to deploy at Ft Belvoir? The reason I ask is this---The event makes us aware of stuff that happened right before the planes hit, and we attactch significance to that. But if that event ( deployment) happens the first week of every month, then it becomes a coincidence, and not significant.

Very unusual and it was even more unusual that they were issued the black rescue uniforms upon arrival. I was told this by an old Army buddy that I hooked up with and he was one of the guys pulling the remains out of the rubble, he is also a level headed non conspiracy type with a strong Special Forces back ground so he has no need to BS about it.

I am not saying that the Gov knew when and where but IMO they did know it was coming.
