Boycott Citgo?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citgo

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petr%C3%B3leos_de_Venezuela_S.A.

Citgo is a subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., a state owned oil company, owned by the Venezuelan government of course.

So since there present government is run by nuts who are not friends of this country, why should I do business with them.

No more Citgo for me, we all should boycott them.

What about their products? Why stop at gasoline or diesel if you are really that dead set against the Devil's Tea?

Every time we have the option to use an alternative to a petroleum based product we do. There are many, but not enough..... yet.

I had to laugh the other day, our energy leaders did a study on the effects of Venesuala shutting us off. The typical conclusions came out, price increases of $.10 to $.15 per gallon, spot shortages, higher heating oil prices etc etc. I'm thinking why the he$$ don't we just shut the ba$tards off, and see what it does to their economy. So prices go back up a little. It won't be long before they come begging.

Maybe it's time we sent messages instead of bombs.....

I gave up on boycotts a long time ago when I realized it hurts me more than it hurts them. There are too many things out there that are petroleum tainted. There are alternatives and there are "alternatives". Depends on your defination. An alternative is the gas station that sells at the same price next to the one you don't like. An "alternative" is one where it kinda is like what you don't like but you have to jump thru hoops to get it. D2 is 2.55. The "alternative" biodiesel is $3.33 after you pay $150 a year for the privillage of buying it at that price or the regular price is 3.68

I'm with you

Oky, I'll keep on boycotting Citgo. I have never bought a drop of gas from them, and, by God, I won't in the future, either!

Boycotts don't work. They will simply sell to someone else, who in turn will sell to us. Boycotting a commodity market product is like playing whack-a-mole.

Neither would I. We went around saying he should be assasinated by a CIA death squad. I think he earned the right to be a little pissed and run his mouth. Sticks and stones, please .

Maybe I'm missing something. Did he attack the US as being a bad or evil country or did he attack Bush? If the latter is the case, that's done daily by millions of fine upstanding citizens and is not a big deal. There are lots of people who don't care for Bush as a president. However, if he is saying the US is bad/evil, we should cut him off.

What we do is not considered a boycott, it`s not spending our personal $ with people and items we don`t ethically support, when possible. If it costs us more, so be it. Walking the talk is more valuable to us than saving money in the short term.

When we first started burning biodiesel 7 years ago it was a major push-up and sometimes cost us over $4.00/gallon. But that push-up has paid off big time. Just this summer the first biodiesel processing facility in the state opened up less than 2 miles from our door and is selling B100 for the same price as petrodiesel. The plant`s location has much to do with the demand that came about because a small but growing group of local people showed we were committed to change our fuel buying habits and switch to biofuels. It`s simply a matter of good `ole "supply and demand", we created a demand and a local businessman recognized it and filled the demand with his supply. Simple capitalist economics, working for the good of all. It wasn`t the negative of a boycott but the positive of the market that got us to the point were we have alternative fuel available locally for the same or less than the Devil`s Tea.

In fact, I`m taking a bulk delivery of 250 gallons today for a good deal less than the pump price of petrodiesel.

More biodegradable than sugar, sell toxic than table salt, sourced by crops grown within a 100 mile radius, processed by a local businessman and friend, no $ going to those who don`t like me, and alot less blood on my hands. You can do it too if you apply yourself.
