Planet be darned...

We should pull out of every other port in the world. Not just Iraq and Afghanistan. But England, Germany, Spain, Phillipenes, Guam, Hawaii, France, etc. etc. If we extricate ourselves from the world, they will all like us then. We'll be like the parents who let their kids do whatever they want. Sure, it will be nerve-wracking at first. But they will love us in the end won't they. Won't they???

If you naysayers believe what we are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan is wrong. That's your opinion. But when the media is telling the rest of the world that they think what we are doing is wrong, it hurts all of us. If this country does not stand United, it will fall divided. The political agendas don't add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme. I assume that we all would like to live in the fashion we are accustomed to. Why commit to creating enemies within, when there are so many on the outside.

We tried this aproach in the early part of this century and it didn't work. Tried it again in the 20's and 30's didn't work so well either. Hmm come to think of it we tried it after the Revolution as well, but ehh for a number of reasons it fell apart.

The Cold War was extremly successful, think about that.

A terrific question for the current administration -- do you think GW or Cheney would actually respond?

This country will never stand united. It never has. That's freedom.

And pulling out of everywhere is not what this country is all about. It will NEVER happen.

How about some real world solutions, that cover all the bases? Been around for 51 years, and haven't heard one yet. So I have become generally immune to all the theoretical, not thought out, simplistic, feel-good horse-****, which is what this post seems to be about. Sorry, but the concept you have presented is almost as silly as saying will solve the world's problems by sending either all the Democrats or all the Republicans to form a new world on Mars.

Ya, I'm havin a bad day!
But tomorrow will be better, for sure.

Hatt , Germanstar, and Waybomb. Good to see ya'll have responded. I know many more did but I don't see their posts here now. Ignore list?? Whatever. BTW, it was a poor thread to start and not characteristic of some of my better thoughts. Tried to keep telling myself to stay out of OD cause it's usually occupied by some, not all, whiny losers that might as well post on a USA Today forum. No help at all with MB restoration and upkeep.

OK Tuesday vent is over.

Hey surf - I feel much better today. Very profitable day for me, in more ways than just money.

To your question, sometimes I feel the same thing - screw it, pull out of everywhere, and then see what everybody else does. But it is just a dream, and really won't ever happen. It sure would feel good though, eh? At least for a little while.
