Psychic cruise control

I’m not superstitious BUT…..

The cruise control system in my 1990 300E has worked flawlessly since I bought the car. About a month ago I was driving on the highway with the cruise on when all of a sudden it cut out. As this happened I realised that the lane I was in was one of two exit lanes but I intended to continue on the main highway.

I safely changed lanes to one of the three lanes that continue to my destination. I clicked “resume” on the cruise control and it has worked flawlessly since then. It had, by some freak malfunction timing, kept me from inadvertently taking the wrong exit.

Strange but true.

Funny you should post this today, as I had a similar experience yesterday. My glow plugs would not come on. Usually if this is the case I can wait a minute and they are fine, but not yesterday. I tried and tried and tried but no dice, so I just took the pickup to work instead.

On the way home I was rear-ended by a Ford Expedition. The damage to the pickup's bumper seems very minor (he was not going fast at all), but who knows what it would have been like on the lower-sitting Mercedes. He might have hit sheet metal on that vehicle.

When I got home I went out to test the GP system and what do you know, it's working fine.

Coincidence? I think not.

It's great when even bad things work out well..(it could have been worse).

Glad to hear no one was hurt.

PS, at times I miss my 82 300D Turbo

Many Mercedes are built with parts from another dimension close to our own. In this other dimension is a timeline that would've ended in disaster (in your cases). In both cases the owners (your other dimensional counterparts) wished that they would've had something interfere with what had happened. Their (your) wish came true (indirectly, yet still effective).

It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so. Robert A. Heinlein
