I don't think they're idiots, they're just GREEDY because they don't have the patience or think they should just drive where the roads say they should go.

I would donate those hydraulic barrier posts to Los Angeles freeways to guide traffic. We have insanely inefficient freeway interchanges to begin with because some are 1-2 lanes and so the direct lanes are congested for 1-2miles long but the IMPORTANT people cut around and jam themselves in at the end causing the people at the front of the line to panic and then cause a chain reaction of stopping that propagates 1000 feet back. To make it worse someone is not paying attention and a rear ender causes rubbernecking AND more people to cut to the front....

I think if we had those to stop people from cutting in, the bottlenecks would be fewer if well laid out. Yes it would still mean 20mph from the volume of cars but it's better than going 4mph every 30 seconds.

i have often thought those would be nice to keep everybody else out of where i want to go!

just kidding.

i have a parking lot downtown which is unguarded (cant afford it for 28 spaces). folks like to park there when they arent paying for a spot. they always say if you catch them "i am only going to be here for a few minutes" and i say yes but if the person comes back who is actually paying for the spot where are they supposed to park? GTF out! except for the F.

anyway i often thought posts like that or a gate would be sweet. but it must be very expensive.

First time I've seen those barriers. I kinda like them, except I would make them pointy at the ends I'd make their speed adjustable too....If sensors indicate a vehicle, they would pop up really fast - with some luck, they could poke through the hood

Non traffic application: One or two smaller poles in front of your front door, to get rid of those people wanting you to witness something or other. They'd get the point in a hurry.

That's not a roadblock! That's an automatic hydraulic jack in the middle of the street!

I'm wondering what those poles are made from. They dont appear to bend or flex.

Yes but it would be scary when the computer decides to reset and drop back down.
