There is an arrest warrant for me....what do I do?

Ok guys...I screwed up bad. I got a no seatbelt ticket which I didn't bother paying. I kept getting the notices but I just threw it on my desk without looking at them. Anyway, I open one of them up and it says that I have to report to my town POLICE station to post a bail of 81 bucks. What the heck do I do? If I go to the station and pay the 81 dollars does everything end there? Or will I have to go to court to pay the ticket?

Anybody know how this crap works? I was just going to head over to the station but my dad said not to do it now since it's 10pm which means the bail department might be closed or whatever.

Will they come for me over a seatbelt ticket?

Thanks

No, they won't come after you, although that's a bit of a shame - a night in the hoosegow might be just the kind of learning - and humbling - experience a guy like you could use.

Go do what you should have done in the first place; pay the fine and put this thing behind you.

Do I go report to my police department or do I go to pay the fine? Which do I do first? The ticket was issued in another town.

Do what the ticket says. They won't arrest you unless they stop you for some other reason. Go Monday morning. Post bail, show up to court on your appointed date and plead guilty, check with the DMV to get your license stuff squared off because it's possible that it's been suspended.

And please no more remarks about Mexicans or Muslims that may be considered racist.

I'll post bail tomorrow in that case. Hopefully it all works out.

No, you have to post bail first, which is probably more than the cost of the original ticket. In fact, it's probably the new cost of the ticket.

The bail is 81 bucks. Do they keep you there long or is this a 5 minute ordeal when posting bail? Can I post it myself or does someone need to be there with me?

You can do it yourself. Don't know how long it'll take. Check on your driver's license first though.

Well it's not wise to drive on a suspended license anyway. Good luck man, it's really not a big deal. Still, just check. Your license may be OK.

Screw going down over a seatbelt ticket. What type of filth-fly would want to admit to going for a loser that did that? Let it ride man; you can tell the tale over two martini lunches on Wall Street next year.

Where do you live that you can get pulled over as a primary stop for not wearing your seatbelt?

New Jersey. Thanks GOD I wasn't wearing one either. It's a long story but I should have received couple other worse tickets but she was night enough and only gave me the no seatbelt which carries no points.
